We are very excited for our October event and the topic is more important and timelier than ever before. We recently had Senator Paul Sarlo present to our council and perhaps the most impactful topic he spoke about was the potential billions of dollars that New Jersey may lose in Medicaid funding! Well, with such an important and timely topic, we are very excited to have none other than Lauren Mechaly, Esq., from Rivkin Radler, with offices in Hackensack, NJ, New York, NY, and FL, come and present to us, live, on Elder Care and Medicaid Planning — Recent Developments and Planning For 2025 and Beyond. Lauren I. Mechaly focuses her practice on elder law, as well as special needs planning, estate planning, and estate administration, and in the elder law arena, she is one of the leading experts in the field.

Even if you don't specialize or your practice is not focused on elder law – it is more important than ever to have a basic handle and understanding of these areas. Elder law and elder care issues are becoming more common, and more prevalent today, and they are impacting and affecting our clients – sometimes without us as professionals even realizing it – and it can significantly impact and effect the planning we do for them. This presentation will cover elder law from both a high-quality and basic foundation, as well as provide expert advice, recent developments, changes in the laws, and recent cases – all of which can and will impact our clients, perhaps their parents, children, and others. Lauren will also present on new topics, new laws and legislation, and recent cases which we as professionals have to know about.

In the elder law arena, Lauren assists her senior-aged clients with a variety of legal issues, not only in elder law, but also estate planning and long-term care planning. This also includes establishing and maintaining eligibility for means-tested government benefits, assisting in nursing home admissions and obtaining homecare services for her elderly clients. In the estate planning arena, Lauren deals with all issues pertaining to estate and tax planning and asset preservation. She assists clients with the tax-efficient transfer of assets during life and after death, crafting customized estate plans to meet the individual needs of her clients.

Lauren has authored and co-authored numerous articles relating to various issues in her practice areas and is a frequent presenter on the topics of elder law and special needs planning. Lauren graduated from Boston University and received her J.D. from Albany Law School, where she was an intern in the Civil Rights and Disabilities Law Clinic and on the editorial team of the Government Law Review.

This is going to be a “Don’t Miss” event – and you can be assured that you will get great information from one of the leading experts in the field.
